What is the Mediland Clinics experience in using stem cells?
Mediland is a fully functional clinic, founded in 2014 and equipped with advanced and modern equipment. At the Mediland Clinic, we offer our patients a full range of services, from advice on common colds to complex stem cell surgeries.Despite the fact that Mediland Clinic was opened in 2014, our team of professional doctors has more than twenty years of experience in the use of stem cells in the treatment of various diseases. Our clinic is staffed exclusively by doctors accredited by the Ukrainian Ministry of Health, who are members of the leading medical communities in Germany, USA, UK, Italy and Russia…

Many high-ranking members of the Ukrainian government, businessmen, sports and show business stars are our patients. Naturally, these people want to leave their treatment in the clinic private, so in 2018 we opened a VIP building of the clinic, where famous people can receive confidential treatment away from bystanders.

All our patients receive the same quality of medical services, regardless of whether they are being treated in a VIP or standard building.

What types of cells does the Mediland Clinics use?
Mediland Clinic offers various types of stem cell treatment.
We use both allogeneic and autologous  stem cells. We work with all types of donor materials (fetal, embryonic, umbilical cord, adipose tissue, patient-derived somatic cells, etc.). We have a wide selection of highly differentiated stem cells that specifically address the problem (cardiomyocytes, chondrocytes, hepatocytes, neural cells: axons, oligodendrocytes, neuroblasts, etc.). We have active protocols for the use of intracellular and intercellular bioproducts, cultivate induction cells from patient-derived somatic cells, and work with gene mutations.

Does the Mediland Clinics have a license to use cells? Does the Mediland Clinic use patented stem cell technology?
Mediland Clinic has a license from the Ministry of Health of Ukraine No.  41580212 for the use of cells in the treatment of both Ukrainian and foreign patients.
Our clinic also holds international patents No. 115067 and No. 114767 for the use of stem cells in the treatment of patients. Please see our Patents and Licenses section

How long does the treatment last?
At the Mediland Clinics, the duration of stem cell treatment varies from 2 to 5 days in 90% of patients. The exact duration of treatment depends on the case, the patient's health, and the stage of the disease. To learn about the type of treatment you need, its implementation and duration of stay in Kiev, you need to send us your tests and medical history sheet.

If you do not know what tests to send out, contact us and describe the problem that needs to be solved with cell therapy. Our specialists will tell you what tests you need to do in advance at your local clinic.

What diseases cannot be treated with stem cells?

Eligibility cannot be determined from a diagnosis name alone. Some conditions, disease stages, active infections, cancers, pregnancy, severe organ dysfunction, coagulation disorders, or other contraindications may make a cellular procedure inappropriate. A physician must review medical records, current health, risks, alternatives, and applicable regulations before any recommendation.

Some clinics claim they can cure cancer/HIV with stem cells. Does the Mediland Clinics share such statements?

We also work with certain oncological conditions, particularly those that are immune-dependent, as well as other disorders that require immune system modulation and correction. However, treatment is never standardized or automatic. Every patient undergoes comprehensive additional examinations, laboratory tests, and clinical assessments so that we can fully evaluate their condition and determine whether stem cell or immunomodulatory therapy is appropriate.

This careful screening process allows us to assess potential risks, expected outcomes, and the likelihood of benefit, ensuring that we only proceed when we are reasonably confident that we can provide meaningful assistance to the patient.

How do I start stem cell treatment at the Mediland Clinics?
To start your stem cell treatment at the Mediland Clinic, you need to email us your test results, medical history, and describe your health problems. We will let you know if these tests are enough to start your stem cell treatment or if you need to do some additional tests at your local clinic. If you don't know what kind of tests to send us, please contact us and we will give you detailed guidance.

What do free supplementary services from the Mediland Clinics mean?
The cost of  most treatment packages for one patient and one accompanying relative/friend includes supplementary services. What does that mean? During the entire period of treatment at the Mediland Clinics, costs such as accommodation, meals ( breakfast),  are included in the price for both the patient and the accompanying person.

Mediland takes care that a trip to Kiev for stem cell treatment brings exceptionally positive emotions to every patient.

TAKE NOTE!

* Relative/friend accompanying the patient is covered only by supplementary services, medical service is provided exclusively to the patient!

Does my insurance cover cell therapy treatment?
No,  treatment with  stem cells is not covered by any insurance in all countries of the world.
Why should I go to Ukraine? I can get stem cell treatment of the same quality in the United States!
That's not true. Many procedures in other countries that help millions of people are prohibited in the United States for very absurd or controversial reasons.Unfortunately, this list includes some types of stem cells, including fetal, IPSCs , narrow differentiated stem cells, which are allowed to be used in other countries, including Ukraine.  Therefore, citizens of countries where the use of these cells is prohibited are forced to conduct medical tourism and travel abroad to be treated with the necessary stem cells.

The quality of medical services in the cell therapy field consists of two factors: the quality of the equipment used for cell production and the experience of the clinic staff in the application of stem cells in the disease treatment.

Since Mediland Clinic was founded in 2014, we have advanced medical equipment, including laboratory equipment for stem cell capture and cultivation.

To understand the experience of our staff, let's look at the history:
When Ukraine was a part of the USSR, special scientific centers for stem cell research for military and state purposes were built on our territory (to extend and improve the quality of life for senior government officials)

After the collapse of the USSR, many scientists and doctors remained in Ukraine, who were among the first in the world to study stem cells, as well as to use these cells to treat various diseases.

We can say that Ukraine is one of the first countries in the world where the concept of "use of stem cells against diseases" was born.

Mediland has modern equipment for collecting and cultivating stem cells, and world-class staff with decades of experience in using stem cells against various diseases. That's why our clinic is chosen by citizens of different countries, including the EU, USA, Canada, Japan, UK, China, Israel, UAE, and many others for stem cell treatment.

Do you have any representative clinics ( offices ) in other countries?
Yes, we have clinic in Bulgaria ( Sofia), there is also a cryobank, laboratory and clinical building there. We also have the opportunity to see patients in Poland, in a medical coworking space. A new laboratory, which opened in 2022 in Graz, Austria, provides services to European patients.
Is there any monitoring and support after therapy?
Yes, the treatment program also includes ongoing communication with the patient, discussion of all recovery periods, additional recommendations and corrections throughout the year.
Is stem cell therapy safe?

Yes, when performed in accordance with established medical standards, stem cell therapy can be considered safe. The safety of treatment is based on strict compliance with international regulatory norms, laboratory quality control, and clinical protocols. This includes the use of properly processed cells, adherence to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards, sterile procedures, and careful documentation at every stage of treatment.

In reputable medical centers, stem cells are thoroughly tested for purity, viability, and biological safety before use. In addition, all patients undergo detailed medical screening and diagnostic evaluations to ensure that the therapy is appropriate for their condition and to minimize potential risks.

Continuous monitoring, standardized treatment procedures, and professional medical supervision further contribute to the overall safety and reliability of stem cell-based therapies.

Is stem cell therapy a cure?
Stem cell therapy is not a universal cure but a powerful regenerative treatment that may significantly improve symptoms, function, and quality of life in selected patients.
How many treatments are needed?
The number of treatments depends on the diagnosis, severity of the condition, and individual patient response. Some patients require a single treatment, while others may benefit from multiple sessions.
How long does it take to see results?
Results vary depending on the condition being treated. Some patients notice improvements within weeks, while others may require several months to experience significant changes.
Why is patient screening important?
Screening ensures that the therapy is appropriate, safe, and likely to provide meaningful benefit. It helps doctors set realistic expectations and tailor treatment plans to each individual.
If stem cells don’t always become new cells, how do they actually work in the body?
Many people assume that stem cells mainly “replace” damaged cells like spare parts. In reality, in most current therapies their primary role is signaling rather than direct replacement. After administration, stem cells release thousands of bioactive molecules — growth factors, cytokines, microRNAs, and exosomes — that communicate with surrounding tissues. These signals reduce harmful inflammation, activate the body’s own repair mechanisms, and stimulate resident stem cells already present in organs. This means the therapeutic effect often comes from “reprogramming the healing environment” rather than physically becoming new tissue.
Why do some patients respond better to stem cell therapy than others?
Response depends on several biological and clinical factors. Younger patients generally have more active regenerative systems, which makes stem cell signaling more effective. The stage of disease also matters — early damage is usually more reversible than long-standing degeneration. Chronic inflammation, poor circulation, metabolic issues, or severe fibrosis can limit results. Additionally, lifestyle factors such as sleep, nutrition, and rehabilitation after therapy play a major role in how well the body integrates regenerative signals.
Can stem cell therapy truly slow biological aging, or is it just cosmetic?
There is growing evidence that stem cell–based approaches influence biological aging markers rather than only appearance. They can reduce systemic inflammation (“inflammaging”), improve mitochondrial function, and support tissue regeneration in multiple organs. This can translate into better energy, improved immune function, and healthier skin, joints, and metabolism. However, it does not stop aging entirely — it may slow certain aspects of the process and improve functional health rather than provide immortality.
What is the difference between stem cells and stem cell-derived exosomes?
Stem cells are living cells capable of interacting dynamically with the body. Exosomes are tiny vesicles released by stem cells that carry proteins and genetic messages but are not alive themselves. Exosomes are easier to administer, can cross barriers like the blood–brain barrier, and carry lower risk of uncontrolled cell growth. Stem cells provide longer-lasting signaling, while exosomes act more like a concentrated “therapeutic message package” that quickly influences repair pathways.
How long do the effects of stem cell therapy actually last?
This varies widely based on condition and protocol. Some patients experience benefits lasting 6–12 months, while others report improvements for 2–3 years, especially when therapy is combined with rehabilitation, healthy lifestyle, and periodic booster treatments. In degenerative conditions, effects may gradually diminish over time as underlying disease processes continue, which is why many protocols recommend repeated treatments rather than a single intervention.
Can stem cell therapy help with chronic inflammation even if there is no clear disease?
Yes, this is one of its most valuable systemic effects. Many people suffer from low-grade chronic inflammation due to stress, aging, poor diet, or environmental factors. Stem cells can shift the immune system toward a more balanced, anti-inflammatory state by increasing regulatory immune cells and reducing pro-inflammatory cytokines. This can lead to better overall health, improved recovery, and reduced risk of age-related diseases.
Is stem cell therapy a treatment or a tool for regeneration?
It is best understood as a regenerative tool rather than a traditional drug. Unlike medications that target a single pathway, stem cells influence multiple systems simultaneously — immune balance, tissue repair, blood flow, mitochondrial health, and cellular communication. This makes them powerful but also more complex, requiring personalized approaches rather than one-size-fits-all protocols.
